Pulmopres 20mg Tablet Cipla is used for treating erectile dysfunction (impotence) and Benign Prostate Hyperplasia symptoms.
It is available in tablet form and must be swallowed as the whole tablet. Tadalafil can be taken before sexual activity and not more than once a day, Precautions must be taken when the patient is already taking nitrates for other conditions such as angina or cardiac issues; this combination can lower the blood pressure of the patient. Dosing schedules are not usually defined for Tadalafil because it is mostly taken as and when needed, however, it is taken once daily and if a dose is missed by the patient, there is no harm in taking the drug whenever the patient remembers but doses must be well- spaced. There is no evidence that Tadalafil protects against STDs (Sexually Transmitted Diseases).

Scientific Publications on Tadalafil
Impact of diabetes mellitus on the severity of erectile dysfunction and response to treatment: analysis of data from Tadalafil clinical trials, a study by V. Fonseca published in Diabetologia, was a retrospective study to assess the safety and efficacy of Tadalafil for the treatment of erectile dysfunction in two groups: those with diabetes compared to those who do not. Random allocation of 10 mg, 20 mg and placebo were done for twelve months. There were 637 men who had Diabetes and 1681 that did not. Results pointed to the fact that at baseline, people with diabetes had more severe erectile dysfunction, but Tadalafil is easily tolerated and proved efficacious. However, Tadalafil was not as successful in erectile dysfunction treatment in diabetic men as other PDE5 inhibitors.
Hartmut Porst’s work “Effects of Tadalafil on Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms Secondary to Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia and on Erectile Dysfunction in Sexually Active Men with Both Conditions: Analyses of Pooled Data from Four Randomized, Placebo-Controlled Tadalafil Clinical Studies”, published in The Journal of Sexual Medicine, demonstrated the efficacy of Tadalafil in treating erectile dysfunction and lower urinary tract symptoms in men. This twelve-week study aimed at evaluating the safety and efficacy of 5 mg daily dose of Tadalafil as compared to placebo in the treatment of erectile dysfunction, lower urinary tract symptoms and Benign Prostate Hyperplasia in men who were sexually active. The results of the study were also assessed with respect to severity of the disease process and (PSA) Prostate Specific Agent results. Tadalafil was found to be equally efficacious in the treatment of all the conditions and there was no change in the efficacy of the drug with changes in severity of the disease.
Published in the Journal of Urology, “Efficacy and Safety of Tadalafil for the Treatment of Erectile Dysfunction: Results of Integrated Analyses” by Gerald B. Brock, was an analysis of safety and efficacy of Tadalafil in the treatment of erectile dysfunction. With a mean age of fifty-nine years, 1112 men with mild to severe erectile dysfunction were assessed in a randomized way with placebo and Tadalafil, given as needed without any restrictions on food and alcohol. The doses given were 2.5 mg, 5 mg, 10 mg and 20 mg. Results revealed that Tadalafil, as compared to placebo, was better at treating erectile dysfunction and better outcomes were reported with its use. With Dyspepsia and headaches as the main side effects of the therapy, most of the patients reported better erections and were found visibly happier with the results.
Description and Mechanism of Action of Tadalafil
The erection of penis when sexually stimulated is caused by the flow of blood which itself is caused when penile arteries and corpus cavernosum muscles relax. Mediation of this process is done by Nitric Oxide released from the nerve terminals and cells of the endothelium. As a result, cGMP (Cyclic Guanosine Monophosphate) is synthesized, which is responsible for smooth muscle relaxation and also for the increase in blood flow to corpus cavernosum. Tadalafil increases the amount of Cyclic Guanine Monophosphate (cGMP) by inhibiting PDE5 (Phosphodiesterase type 5) and hence, erectile function is enhanced.
Pulmopres Effects for Erectile Dysfunction
Patients with erectile dysfunction report better erections with the use of Tadalafil. It is taken when needed, and good results can be expected from this drug when taken as per need. However, underlying conditions of impotence must be known, Tadalafil is effective in the treatment of erectile dysfunction and urinary symptoms of Benign Prostate Hyperplasia. Prior to use of Tadalafil, the patient must inform the consultant about any blood disorders, anemia, cardiac issues, liver disease, kidney disease, dialysis, angina, ulcers, or any physical deformity of the penis.
Recommended Doses and Duration of Therapy
For Erectile Dysfunction: When taken as needed: 10 mg Tadalafil should be taken before sexual activity.
